Tax Alert: VAT and VIES Deadline Extended to 20 August 2026

The Tax Department has extended the VAT return and VIES deadline to 20 August 2026, due to the summer holiday period.

• What's affected: the VAT return and payment for the period 1st April to 30th June 2026 and the VIES statement for July 2026.

• New deadline: 20 August 2026 for both.

• If missed: €100 flat for late VAT submission, an additional 10% tax on the VAT owed and €50 flat for late VIES submission. These are independent, avoiding one doesn't avoid the others.

  
  

If you've already filed, this doesn't change anything for you. If you haven't, ensure you don't leave it to the last minute and use the extra time to get the figures right.
